Subject: Concern about my access to a loan

I am writing to express my deep concern regarding the government’s recent decision to reduce the allowable rate of interest, which could eliminate access to safe and secure sources of credit for millions of Canadians, like me.

This move will have serious repercussions on hardworking families like mine, and I urge you to consider the impact of these consequences. The timing of these changes couldn’t be worse, with inflation and the cost of living at a record high.

The consequences of this decision are dire:

Families, including newcomers who have not yet built Canadian credit, heavily rely on non-prime credit for crucial expenses like transportation, unexpected bills, and debt consolidation.

These changes will drive Canadians towards pawn shops, expensive payday loans, and illegal lenders, eliminating regulated and stable sources of credit.

Reducing access to this credit hampers the rebuilding of credit and access to lower borrowing costs in the future.

The proposed changes are not the solution. These changes close doors for everyday Canadians, like me.

I urge you to take a stand for my financial well-being by advocating against reductions in the maximum allowable rate of interest. Your support is critical.

Thank you for your attention. I eagerly anticipate your response and action to protect the access to free credit for all Canadians.
